"Enterprise can flourish in the most unlikely of circumstances and within all of us there is the potential to become an entrepreneur. Colin Coulson-Thomas' latest book reveals the secrets of personal and corporate transformation. It should be read by all those who aspire to the creation of value for others while remaining true to themselves."

Derek Ludlow, Chairman, The National Centre for Competitiveness, UK

Individuals and Enterprise - Creating Entrepreneurs for the New Millennium Through Personal Transformation is the follow-up to Colin Coulson Thomas' stunning 1997 best-seller The Future of the Organization (published by Kogan Page). The Future of the Organization looked at the change and transformation that has taken place in the typical organization in the last decade, and suggested how companies and organizations should adapt to ensure that they are not left behind as the business world gears up for the new millennium. This book takes up where that one left off, in that it addresses the consequences of the changing nature of businesses and organizations from an individual perspective. It considers the implications and opportunities facing individuals and what they need to do at different stages of their working life, either within an organization, or going it alone as an entrepreneur.

The book is optimistic, positive and forward thinking. It stresses the satisfaction and excitement that can be derived from taking full control of one's life, breaking free, discovering one's real self, being true to one's ideals and beliefs, and using one's energies either to start a new enterprise, or to make fundamental and beneficial changes in one's current organization.

Challenges such as career uncertainty, globalization, new forms of working and even redundancy can be turned into exciting opportunities. It is a global world now, full of easy means of communication and full of opportunity. The time is right for individuals to express themselves and fulfil themselves more than ever before, and organizations need to support individual growth and harness individual talents if they are to hold on to the most valuable resource they have - their people. The book identifies what organizations need to do to enable entrepreneurship to flourish and to support value and enterprise creation.

Professor Colin Coulson-Thomas is a seasoned business writer of guru status. Previous works include The Future of the Organization and Transforming the Company (both Kogan Page). He is already working on his next book, The Shape of Things to Come, which will be a futuristic appraisal of how business will develop in the New Millennium, and will be published by Blackhall Publishing in October 1999.
