Brian Bates

Brian is a Professor of Psychology at the University of Brighton, the University of Sussex, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. His work on imagination includes his directing at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. There he trained future Academy Award winners and stars including Kenneth Branagh, Ralph Fiennes, Jane Horrocks, Sean Bean and Timothy Spall. 

Currently Brian has developed ways to teach imagination and performance in business settings. He lectures internationally to business, arts and general audiences, including a series of seminars on creativity jointly with actor John Cleese. 

Currently Research Director of the Christensen Foundation (Palo Alto) project on recovering the nature-based knowledge of ancient England, he is also Senior Adviser to the Ford Foundation funded project on worldwide indigenous wisdom - ‘The Council of Elders’ - working closely with tribal elders and medicine people to protect and document their knowledge. Brian was recently honored by these elders, who designated him a ‘wizard’ in recognition of his work in reconstructing the shamanic traditions of the Anglo-Saxons for application to life today. 

Born and educated in England, Brian then took degrees at the Universities of California, Berkeley, and Oregon, worked in Behavioral Sciences at Stanford Research Institute and at Cambridge University, England.

Barry Curnow

Professor Barry Curnow is a consultants’ consultant and Group Analyst based in London, England. He specialises in strategic advisory, leadership and organisation work and provides coaching, counselling and mentoring for professional service firms and their clients. He has spent his career in the building, buying, leadership and selling of consulting firms and knowledge-based businesses internationally.

He is currently Immediate Past Chairman of the International Council of Management Consulting Institutes (Chairman, 2003-5), Principal of the Maresfield Curnow School of Management Consulting, and a Past President of both the Institute of Management Consultancy and the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development in the UK (formerly IPM). 

Barry is a former Chairman and Managing Director of Hay-MSL Management Consultants Group and was previously a world-wide partner and main board director of the Hay Group in Washington DC, Chairman of Hay Pacific in Hong Kong and Managing Director of Hay UK.

Francis Huxley

Francis Huxley is a British anthropologist, the son of Sir Julian Huxley, and the author of several books. He was educated in the United Kingdom at Gordonstoun School and at Balliol College, Oxford, where he gained degrees in Zoology and Social Anthropology. For five years he was a Research Fellow of St. Catherine's College, Oxford. He has traveled widely, particularly in the Americas, as an anthropologist working for various universities and institutions. Huxley undertook major field work among a tribe of Brazilian Indians, exploring 17,000 miles of the Amazon basin and studying its native populations; he did early work with Humphrey Osmond in Canada, has reported on the use of psychedelic snuff by Yanomamo Indians, and documented the early use of LSD in the West and in the third world. Francis Huxley lives in Santa Fe, NM.

Steven Gans

Professor. Steven Gans is a Healing Arts Practitioner, a Philosopher, a Psychoanalyst, a Hypnotherapist and an Executive Coach.  He began his career as an Academic Philosopher receiving his Ph.D. from Penn State University and teaching at a small New England College.  His interest in Ancient and Contemporary Philosophic Practices led him to study Psychoanalysis in London, England under the world famous Existential Psychoanalyst R.D. Laing.

Dr. Gans founded the first MA Program in Humanistic Counseling and Psychotherapy in the U.K. at Antioch University, London. He also founded and directed the University of Maryland's Study in London Program and the London branch of The Institute for Management Studies (IMS).

After completing his Analytic Training he became a Member of Laing's Philadelphia Association, joined it's faculty and training committee and went into private practice. Dr. Gans has practiced Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in London for over 25 years. He has written extensively for academic journals and books on Philosophy, Psychoanalysis, Healing Practice and Heart Wisdom. His book, co-authored with Dr. Leon Redler, Just Listening: Ethics and Therapy develops and expands the Laingian tradition by emphasizing responsibility, goodness and justice in addition to the power of love and holistic integration to heal.

As a result of his training in Hypnotherapy at The Southwest Institute of the Healing Arts Dr.Gans has developed a Psychoanalytic Hypnotherapy to accelerate the healing work and progress of his clients.
